Hi, my name is Nat from South London. I'm fundraising for Immediate Relief for Jamaica & family in St Elizabeth. In late October 2025, Hurricane Melissa ravaged the Caribbean, causing severe damage in Jamaica.

Funding has been critical for providing essential aid. The UK government, for example, rapidly deployed emergency humanitarian funding to deliver supplies such as shelter kits, water filters, and blankets, medical kit, health care/ supplies for children. Adults and children also suffering from common illnesses and long- term health conditions like Sickle cell disease will also need immediate health care.

The World Food Programme also coordinated logistics and supplies for impacted nations, including Jamaica. However, the scale of the damage, which includes destroyed homes, disrupted power, and impassable roads, suggests a continued need for disaster response funding beyond the initial relief period.

The hurricane also underscored Jamaica's economic vulnerabilities, particularly its reliance on tourism and agriculture, sectors that are highly susceptible to natural disasters.

The devastation presents an opportunity not just to rebuild, but to build back stronger and more sustainably.
