Emergency! Jamaica - Rural community of Claremont

Donation protected
Hi I’m Amelia and for many years I lived in, and called the rural community of Claremont in St. Elizabeth, my home.

My community was directly impacted by Hurricane Melissa a Category 5 system that has left approximately 98 of the 105 homes in the area completely destroyed. The people have been without food, shelter or medical assistance since Tuesday, October 28th and like many Jamaicans in St.Elizabeth, Westmoreland and Montego Bay are struggling to survive.

So far, this community has not received a single visitor with aid and as it is so isolated, the situation is becoming dire.

We are seeking assistance in sending much needed aid, food, clothing and materials to rebuild to these overlooked, humble, hardworking, community members, members of our families, our loved ones, who have lost everything, their homes and livelihoods.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated and may save lives. We advise caution when donating to avoid potential scams and if you would like to support the broader Jamaican communities also at need please check out the government website https://supportjamaica.gov.jm
