Animals and Farmers in Jamaica

My name is Dr. Cliff Redford. I am a veterinarian from Toronto, Ontario, and as you may know, I travel around the world working with animal rescue groups in under-served regions.
Three weeks ago, Hurricane Melissa devastated the western coast of Jamaica. Entire communities have been destroyed, and towns are currently struggling to repair roads, rebuild homes, and address the rampant spread of disease and infection.

In response to this crisis and due to his connections to the island—having volunteered there nine years ago—I will return to Kingston, Jamaica to volunteer for 10 days, starting November 26th. They will be working with their friends at the JSPCA, providing treatment for injured and sick animals, assisting farmers with their livestock, and helping to reduce the risk of diseases in pets that can be transmitted to humans, such as Leptospirosis.
The money raised will assist the JSPCA in purchasing medicine and supplies that will not only help the animals who have been injured and displaced, but also the communities that rely on those animals.
Several community clinics are being organized in Kingston and Negril at this moment.
