Jamaica building Hope After the Storm
In the wake of the recent hurricane that devastated communities across Jamaica, countless families have lost their homes, livelihoods, and access to essentials like food, water, and shelter.
As Jamaicans living in Canada, we feel called to act on this tremendous destruction of our beautiful Jamaica. With the support of our local community and the generosity of:
Dreams of Beans (at the corner of George and Charlotte).
— who has graciously opened their entire space for this cause — we are organizing a hurricane relief initiative to gather and ship supplies directly to affected families in Jamaica.
What We’re Doing for the next 2 weeks ending on November 23, 2025, at 2 pm.
Setting up donation barrels and bins at Dreams of Beans at the corner of George and Charlotte. 141 Charlotte St, Peterborough, ON K9J 2T6. Donation Hours: Monday 7 am to 6 pm; Tuesday 7 am to 6 pm; Wednesday: 7 am to 5 pm; Thursday: 7 am to 6 pm; Friday: 7 am to 6 pm; Saturday: 7 am to 6 pm; Sunday: 9 am to 2 pm
• for community drop-offs
• Collecting essential items: non-perishable food, clothing, hygiene products, and school supplies
• Packing and shipping barrels directly to trusted community partners in Jamaica for distribution
• Providing financial support to assist with rebuilding homes, repairing schools, and caring for vulnerable elders
How Your Donation Helps
Every dollar counts:
• $100 can provide a week’s worth of food for a family
• $250 helps ship a barrel of supplies, which includes shipping and clearing the
barrels. Per barrell
• $100 contributes toward rebuilding materials and tools for damaged homes
Your donations will be used transparently — with regular updates, photos, and receipts shared here and through our community letter. The cost may be more than our target of $15,000, and we will update you with any further increase in cost. Every additional dollar will go to families to help them recover from this disaster. Thank you for your support.
