Hello, my name is Patty Westra, I live in Manitoba, Canada. We are fundraising to repair the home of a Jamaican family whose home was severely damaged by Hurricane Melissa.
Our dear friends, the Cunningham family, live in the Archwell community near Prospect, Jamaica. Four generations — six adults and three children — share this small home, from 97-year-old Auntie Layla and 85-year-old Auntie Daphne to the youngest, just 18 months old.
During Hurricane Melissa, their roof suffered significant damage, including large holes and other structural issues. The roof needs urgent repair. We are raising $8,000 to repair the roof and other water damages. We will also purchase a water tank to provide reliable access to water for the household. Currently, the family has no electricity and no running water.
These repairs will be high-quality and built to withstand future hurricanes, ensuring the home remains safe and secure for the family.
Your support will make an immediate and meaningful difference in their daily lives. Thank you for considering a donation.
We have obtained a detailed materials list to repair the damages that is posted here. The $8,000.00 includes all materials and labour.
Rest assured, 100% of all funds raised will go directly to helping this family.
