Harmed by SFPD! Jamaica Hampton & Family Support

We want to thank everyone who has donated! We have spoken with Jamaica and will be donating the rest of the funds we've raised together (after covering emergency food and hospital expenses for the family) to a GoFundMe that will be going directly into his bank account. Please consider donating to that GoFundMe. https://www.gofundme.com/f/offical-jamciaca-hampton-medical-and-recovery-fund
We will continue to accompany Jamaica Hampton. Thank you all for your generosity!

On Saturday 12/7 at 8:34 a.m. Jamaica Hampton was shot by SFPD officers near 23rd and Capp.  Jamaica survived, but remains in critical condition in the hospital with serious injuries caused by multiple bullet wounds. His family needs your support.

As soon as they learned about the shooting, on Tuesday 12/10, his family rushed from Sacramento to San Francisco. Tana Hampton, Jamaica's mother, arrived to the hospital but was denied access to her son. After telling her story and demanding to see her son at a community protest and press conference, restrictions were lifted the following day.

Now the long wait starts. Jamaica is far from being in the clear, he remains in critical condition, and the depth of the harm caused to him remains to be seen.

He needs his family near him to advocate for him. His siblings are doing their best to shuttle to and from Sacramento between family and work obligations, but it is his mom Tana who is staying bedside with him. There is also the possibility that SFPD will try to harass Jamaica, and he'll need his family advocates.

The Hampton family is not wealthy. Tana presently has no income, and for all intents and purposes, she is homeless in San Francisco. We want to support her in doing the most important job she can do and for which she is uniquely qualified: Be Jamaica's mom and advocate.

All funds raised will go to support Tana and her family in this trying time, so that they can support Jamaica.

She's already impressed by the kindness of the San Francisco community. Let's do right by Jamaica and his family, and show them how deep our solidarity runs.

Emergency Toiletries & Clothing = $300
3 Months of Food ($10/meal x 3 meals/day x 90days) = $2,700
Tania will be sleeping in the hospital room with Jamaica but should housing costs arise, we'll include this in the fundraiser.

*~DIRECTLY FUNDING JAMAICA~* If you would like your donation to be reserved exclusively for Jamaica Hampton when he regains consciousnesses (instead of to the whole family) we encourage you to donate to another campaign started by his dear friend Eve Greenberg: https://www.gofundme.com/f/offical-jamciaca-hampton-medical-and-recovery-fund

About Do No Harm Coalition
We are healers, health workers, and activists accompanying communities affected by state sanctioned violence in our collective struggle for health, dignity, and sovereignty. Health is a human right and as health workers we have a collective duty to eradicate systems of oppression which threaten that right.

About Justice 4 Luis Góngora Pat
Luis Demetrio Góngora Pat was born in Teabo, Yucatan on 4/25/1970; he was nearly 46 years old at the time that he was killed by SFPD. A Yucatecan Mayan, he is survived by his spouse, three grown children and his elderly parents in Yucatan, Mexico. Luis is also survived by brothers and cousins in San Francisco. They demand justice for Luis Góngora Pat.

Together these two coalitions connected with Tana Hampton at the protest on 12/10 and worked with her clinical team to make sure that she was allowed into his hospital room. We have been visiting them daily and supporting them with food, clothing, and other supplies. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
