My Track and Field Journey

Hi Everyone,
My name is Jallycia Pearson. I am a recent graduate from the University of Texas at El Paso. I graduated as a student athlete with a cum laude degree in Kinesiology. Being a recent graduate is a tough spot to be in especially when my goals and dreams are so big. The one thing being an Army Brat has taught me is that situations and challenges are tough but with strong determination nothing is impossible. That is why my journey is so much a part of who I am.
Track and field has been a huge part of my life for the past six years. I started competing in high school making it to the UIL Texas State Track and field championship in the triple jump and 100m hurdles my senior year. I then continued competing in college. With the support of my coaches I tried the heptathlon for the first time my college freshman year. As my career continued, I set a school record in the Heptathlon and Pentathlon at University of Texas at El Paso. With the support of my family, coaches, friends, and teammates I was able to compete at the NCAA Track and Field meet. I competed in Eugene, Oregon as a heptathlete my junior and senior year. This year I made the decision to embark on a new challenge with track and field. I am competing for a spot on the Canadian National Team for track and field as a heptathlete.
My dream is big. I want to include everyone in this journey of mine. This adventure is not cheap especially since I have to pay out of pocket for spikes, meets, hotels, and transportation. I begin my competition season in January through August 2016. The meets I will be able to attend will put my name out there and increase my chances of success.
This would mean a lot to me, to have the support from you. This path of mine comes with a price but I would not change it for the world. Receiving these funds would be tremendous, alleviating some financial trouble that comes with this decision of mine.
Your contribution will allow me to focus more on executing all seven events.( hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 meters, long jump, javelin, and 800 meters) I will be forever grateful. In the words of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf “If your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough.
