"Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! Let the nations be glad and sing for joy!" (Ps. 67:3-4)
How amazing is it to know that God desires to see the whole world rejoice and to experience the heart-warming joy that He generously gives us through His Son Jesus! The Lord has placed a passion in my heart to see ALL people know the life-changing love of God, and He has orchestrated moments in my life, again and again, for me to share His love with people far and wide. This is another one of these moment, where He is preparing to shoot me out into the world to serve people in need, yet to also minister to my brothers and sisters in Christ.
A few months ago, I was walking through the hallways of Highland Park Pres on my way to service, when I ran into a pastor here in Dallas for a few days on Sabbatical. His name was Ian Dyble, and he is the current Vicar at St. Thomas Church in Norwich, England. After chatting in the hallway for a bit, Ian graciously invited me to spend a summer with him serving at St. Thomas. Of course I was immediately excited at the prospect of going to England to serve the Church, but even more than that I was completely stunned by the timing of his invitation.
One day, about six weeks prior to meeting Ian, I had a strong feeling that it was finally time to get my first passport, because I was convinced that ministry would inevitably lead me overseas. I went through the application process and awaited the arrival of my very first passport, and the same week that it arrived I also received my first invitation to go overseas to do ministry. Needless to say, I was shocked by Ian's offer, yet I was left utterly amazed at how God once again put together a moment for me to behold just how graciously He gives to His children.
My plans for this summer are to fly to England on July 1st and stay for an entire month. While there I will serve with St. Thomas' prayer team, help out in their children's ministry, and do evangelism with their outreach ministry. At the end of the month I will travel with some of their members to "Focus", which is a church conference created to equip ministry leaders and give the members of the HTB church network a chance to worship and fellowship together. In addition to my time spent in England, I have tentative plans to serve at an Evangelical summer camp outside of Frankfurt, Germany for the first two weeks of August; however, if those plans do not fully come together I will instead return to Dallas straight from England.
My prayer is that your generosity is not only an offering to God, but an opportunity for us to join together as brothers and sisters in Christ. I am confident that God will make a way this summer, for us to reach those without knowledge of who Jesus is or what he has done for the world. People today are in need of hope, they are desperate for peace, and are longing to find satisfaction in life, and through your giving, I believe, people will finally be able to experience these things in a lasting way as they encounter our Lord, Jesus Christ.
