Take Care of the Zieglers!
Donation protected
Most of us have been touched by Megan (Connors) Ziegler and Pastor Timm Ziegler at some point in our lives. They work tiredlessly toward helping others and reaching out in ministry and in the Lord. It is now time to give back and help out this amazing couple and their family. We need to take care of those who take care of us!
On Nov 8th, Megan & Timm rushed their son Jakob to the University of Virginia Medical Center with life threatening symptoms. Jakob was treated and ultimately diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes, previously known as juvenile diabetes, is rare and is usually diagnosed in children and young adults. Only 5% of people with diabetes have this form of the disease. Jakob is a seventh grader and is back home undergoing a very strict regimen of treatment and diet to regulate his diabetes.
Megan and Pastor Timm are constantly looking for ways to work in their community and to extend God's love to everyone. Timm serves as the Chaplain of Lexington VA Police Department, Coach of the UVA Wrestling team, Pastor at Life Chapel, and is an incredible father to his 3 children (Jordan, Jakob, and Justice). He also coaches youth baseball and football for the Rockbridge Area Recreation Organization. Megan gives of herself in daily ministry at Life Chapel and as Enrichment Instructor and English as a Second Language teacher in Rockbridge County Public Schools. They sponsor many projects in their communities locally. If you are curious about some of the work that Pastor Timm and Megan have been doing - check out this page!

The level of tenacity that this couple exhibits daily in giving to their communities and in service to the Lord is a marvel. However, it is hard to keep that Beacon lit all of the time. Pastor Timm and Megan work very hard to impact others and they usually keep a great perspective on their service. They really do seek to make the best of a situation and inevitably find a way to minister to those around them! (Example - Megan is seeking to start a Faith Based Support group for people who have family members with Terminal Illnesses - a direct result of the new challenges she faces). They keep it real and this is something we all appreciate. Timm and Megan are known for their generosity and selflessness - always willing to help others in need. It is time for us to help them obtain stability for their son.

Megan and Pastor Timm have a lot of worries right now, including sleeping with 1 eye open to make sure that Jakob's levels are consistent. Included in those worries is the obvious need to have funds to conduct the treatments necessary including travel expenses as they consider various treatment and trials for their son. Insurance doesn't cover everything (especially travel expenses) and there are copays as we all know! They also need to make necessary preparations to their home to be able to monitor his levels throughout the night. At the moment, Megan is sleeping on the floor so that her son can sleep in her bed and she can attend to his needs.
Megan's recent words she had posted really speak to how this couple faces these challenges which I felt were quite inspirational. Please read through below and let the words sink in...
"Sometimes you just have to tie yourself to the ship's mast when going through the storms or you will be washed right off the boat as it's rocked. Sometimes even standing on the Solid Rock isn't enough.
With what do you secure yourself?
Gods promises--even when you don't see or feel them.
Prayer-- even when your mind is plaqued with memories of shipwrecks that didn't walk on water.
Praise--even when your voice is drowned & choked out by the waves.
Support-- rope holders - they can hang you or help you- be careful which ones to trust but some will tie themselves right next to you, tread water & fight off the swarming sharks when you are too tired to. "
We've all been asked to support various causes throughout the year (and more at year-end when charities are time-crunched to hit their annual goals). We are asking that you consider taking care of our people and donating to help them in their time of need. Let's be their Rope Holders! Anything that you can donate will help them greatly.
Thank you so much for reading this and for your support of Megan and Pastor Timm Ziegler!
