Hi, my name is Jake Phillipson and I am 15 years old. I have lived in Nailsworth all my life with my sister Matilda, mum Louise, and dad Steve, I am currently a student at Marling School studying towards my GCSEs. I have been a keen rugby player for Stroud Rugby since I was 4, I currently play flanker or second row for the under 16s, moving on to the Colts next season. I also enjoy joining in with the Cainscross Mixed Ability training.
I keep poultry and have recently reared my own ducks and turkeys. I am currently looking after our three ewes and a friends Tup! The ewes are hopefully in lamb and due to give birth at the end of March.
I have been involved in Scouting since joining Beavers at Amberley at the age of 6 years, where I progressed all the way to Scouts and achieved the Gold Chief Scout Award. Along with this I have completed my bronze Duke of Edinburgh award and I have almost completed my silver award. I am now an Explorer at Chalford and have been a young leader at Nailsworth Beavers since Easter 2019.
What is the World Scout Jamboree?
The World Scout Jamboree is a mammoth international event that occurs every 4 years and brings together 40,000 plus scouts from across the globe. It provides young people with a unique opportunity to find out about different cultures and faiths, gain an understanding of global issues, learn new skills and take part in various adventurous, educational and creative activities. As a member of Unit 81, I will be learning new skills alongside my fellow participants, developing the group as a team and preparing for the experience and culture of South Korea.
