Jake's Mitzvah Project for Paws for Patrick
Hi my name is Jake and I am becoming a Bar Mitzvah on June 4. Since I was little my dog Penny has been like a therapy dog to me. When I'm stressed she helps calm me down and she always makes me feel good. For my mitzvah project I am hoping to raise money for Paws for Patrick, a non-profit organization in Lake Forest, Illinois dedicated to helping young people facing anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges by connecting them with emotional support dogs. During the pandemic my dog Penny brought me so much comfort since I felt very isolated because of quarantine. I have heard that times have been even more challenging for people during the last year, and this is why Paws for Patrick is even more important to me right now. I wish everyone struggling could have an opportunity to have a dog to help support them.
This Saturday, May 1st I will be behind Cherry Pit helping "Turn Our Towns Green" for Mental Health Awareness month. Many towns will be participating in ribbon tying and yard signs. Please stop by and grab a ribbon and/or a yard sign. My dog Penny, a registered therapy dog, will be with me so I hope you can come any time between 10:00-11:00 a.m.
I hope you will consider making a donation to support kids in our communities facing the challenges of mental illness. Every dollar makes a difference and no amount is too small. Thank you so much for reading this. Love, Jake
