Jake's New Hips!

A little over a year ago, my brother started experiencing pain in his hips. At first, he thought he was just sore from some golf he played a few days earlier and that the pain would go away. When it didn't, he thought he might have pulled a muscle and asked his doctor what he could do about it.  The doctor told him that muscle tears just need time to heal. So he gave it a few weeks but those weeks turned into a few months.  Instead of the pain going away, it only got stronger. In less then a year, the pain went from kinda noticeable to  debilitating. When he finally asked to be checked out, the doctor told him he had a condition called Avascular Necrosis of the Femoral Head, a side effect of the medication he has been taking since the age of 8 that initially helped to stablize his kidney disease and now prevents a rejection of his kidney transplant. Unfortunately there is no cure and the only solution is the replacement of both of his hips. 




For the first time in a long time, my brother had hope and felt excited to know that very soon he would be able return to a pain free normal life. But that excitement was short-lived as he quickly realized that he wasn't as financially prepared as he would like to have been. Although his insurance will be covering some of his medical expenses, he still has to pay for most of the surgery, hospital stay, doctors visits, physical therapy and medication out of his own pocket. To make matters more difficult, he will have to take leave of absence since each hip replacement will need to be a month apart with physical therapy after each surgery.  All this has left my brother worried about how he will take care of everything financially during those months. So I wanted to try and help. I am starting this go fund me to help my brother pay for his medical expenses so he doesn't have to worry about anything but getting better.
