Support Sonya and Jake: A Loving Couple in Need

We are reaching out to friends, family, and anyone with the heart to help, to support the most amazing and uplifting couple that many of us know and love —Jake and Sonya. They have spent their lives lifting up those around them, spreading love and positivity. Now, it's our turn to lift them up during one of the hardest times in their lives.

Just after Jake’s birthday in December, he fell seriously ill and was hospitalized with a diagnosis of sepsis. For the past 13 years, Jake has been courageously battling hodgkins lymphoma, a type of cancer, always maintaining a positive spirit despite the challenges he’s faced. Unfortunately, his ongoing fight with cancer makes even a simple illness far more dangerous. The week of December 16th, Jake was admitted to the hospital, and he is currently in an induced coma, on life support, and undergoing dialysis.

Sonya and Jake moved to Portugal shortly after they were married to start a new adventure together. They are far from any friends and family because of this brave step they took to create a life they love. We can't bring food, give hugs, or do anything to be in person supporting Sonya as she navigates this, alone, and during the holidays.

In true Sonya fashion, she has been navigating with grace and strength, as she always is, by Jake's side with unwavering love and resilience. But as we all know, no one should have to face such a difficult journey alone, especially when family and friends are far away.

This GoFundMe has been created to help Sonya and Jake with their expenses during this challenging time. All funds raised will go directly to Sonya to cover food, rent, medical bills, and any other needs that arise as she continues to care for Jake and manage this situation.

Though we may be far apart, we can still show them our love and support in meaningful ways. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference and will help alleviate some of the burdens Sonya is carrying right now.
