On Saturday, 1/26/19, my dog Jak ingested garbage that contained the remains of a recent meal. He was vomiting the next day into Monday morning and did not eat any food all day.


I dropped him off at his usual vet on Monday for x-rays and testing to determine what he had ingested. The x-ray showed a dense foreign object in his stomach and the veterinarian suggested immediate surgery to remove it. She removed a small but sharp piece of bone that could have cut Jak's intestines as he tried to pass the object.


They also discovered multiple masses on his spleen that could be cancerous, so they removed his spleen and sent it off for testing. After surgery, he spent the night in an animal ER for monitoring. He also spent the next day back at the vet for day monitoring.

Jak was back in my care on Tuesday evening after eating well at the vet. He is on special digestive care food and pain medication while he is recovering, and must have a cone on at all times to deter him from getting at the stitches on his stomach.



This emergency surgery was not in my plans or budget, so I had to take out a CareCredit card to pay for all of the medical expenses, medication, food, cone, and etc for his surgery and recovery.
