Help Jaimie Firmston and her Family Battle Cancer

On July 25th, 2022, Jaimie Firmston unexpectedly experienced two seizures after waking up with her newborn baby in the early morning. Jaimie's recent fiancé Kyle found her unresponsive and called 911. Jaimie was rushed to Grey Nuns Hospital, before being transferred to the UofA later that day. Our world came crashing down when we received the devastating news that Jaimie was diagnosed with a large aggressive tumor on her brain. (5.9x6.1x4.3cm) Jaimie was operated on just two days after finding the tumor. Although the surgeons were confident with the surgery and outcome, unfortunately 40% of the tumor was embedded in tissues, and removal could cause lasting adverse effects. Jaimie was away from her 4 children, Tyson (9), Teagan (7), Mackenzie (3) and Isabella (3 weeks) for a total of 5 days. Luckily, family members were in town at the time to be with and comfort them. Jaimie was sent home to recover and await the results of the biopsy.

On August 25th, Jaimie was officially diagnosed with a Stage Three Malignant Brain Tumor in her frontal lobe, medically known as Oligodendroglioma. Since the extraction of the tumor did not work, Jaimie and Kyle were presented with options to shrink the tumor. The treatment plan includes an everyday radiation therapy alongside chemotherapy for 6 weeks and then 5 days a month for 6 months to a year. With this being a stage three tumor, 90% of the time the tumor grows back after radiation and chemotherapy. These are incredibly heartbreaking things to hear. While Jaimie should be embracing the newborn stage, starting the new school year with her older kids and her life as a new fiancé, she's now faced with the side effects that come with treatment.

Jaimie is a 37-year-old loving, inspiring mother who raised three beautiful kids, all by herself until Kyle joined the family two and a half years ago, also adding their beautiful newborn, Isabella. This news left family, friends and her fiancé Kyle devastated. Jaimie and Kyle just started a new chapter in their lives, purchasing an acreage outside of Edmonton, Alberta. While this news was heartbreaking, we can't change the diagnosis to a more positive one, therefore we can change our attitude to a more positive one and therefore make a positive change in the world. We have been absolutely blown away by the support that she has received from friends and family. This has made so many people, including myself, appreciate every single second of my life. We fully intend to bring a life full of positivity and love to Jaimie, and we hope we can give other people hope when they feel hopeless, and a life that inspires.

Please consider supporting Jaimie and her family as they enter this next phase of their lives. Jaimie will be out of work as she enters her new treatment plan, also losing her license due to the seizures added a huge strain to her everyday life. Kyle will continue to work but will also see a loss of income as treatment progresses to help her out on this journey.

Kyle and Jaimie appreciate any kind of love or support that you can provide during these difficult times. If you are the drinking type, raise a toast to Jaimie, if you are the praying type, send them up. Most importantly, keep the family close to your hearts and send all your positivity to her, for the huge fight that is coming. Any donations on this site will go directly to Kyle and Jaimie to help with their expenses as this goes on.

We also understand that times are financially challenging right now. If you cannot donate, please spread the word and tell as many people as possible. Kind messages and positive vibes are also much appreciated.

Thank you to all, we appreciate you guys so much!
