Jaime's Car Wreck & Amputation Recovery

Donation protected
Jaime, a 25-year-old mother of 2 needs your help after a horrible car accident left her with life-altering injuries. After numerous operations to repair her legs, she developed an infection. She went to the ER and they gave her the devastating news... they would have to amputate the leg below the knee. 6 days later it was done. She has more surgeries to come on her other leg and will be in the hospital for months, unable to care for her 2 babies. This is going to be a difficult stretch on her long road to recovery. Please consider helping this young family.

Below is the story from the beginning. Please note, the post includes GRAPHIC photos from the wreck and hospital.

In January 2021 Jaime had a seizure while driving and her car crashed headlong into a tree. It was a miracle she survived.

She was put on an emergency helicopter flight from Oklahoma to Texas to treat a punctured lung and kidney, 3 broken ribs, a compound arm fracture and extensive damage to both legs. She would spend the next 3 months in the hospital undergoing numerous operations, including several skin grafts and the installation of plates, screws and other hardware in her legs.

All the while not being able to have visitors other than her parents and her boyfriend because of COVID-19 protocols. She missed precious time with her 5-year-old son. It was isolating and lonely.

In April she was finally sent home, unable to walk and still facing more operations before she could start physical therapy. In July she had surgery on her left ankle and started to be able to stand on her own for short periods. Over the following months she progressed in being able to stand and walk, slowly and painfully. Life would never go back to normal, but her spirit was strong and she was determined to adapt to this new way of living, for her son and for herself.

Sometimes life has a way of surprising us... This new suprise took the form of a pregnancy announcement and in September 2022 the young family of 3 became 4.

Jaime was fitted for custom shoes to help her walk and was still waiting on a doctor to begin the reconstruction of her legs. Unfortunately, many of the previous operations were a band-aid fix until they could get her to an orthopedic specialist for a complete reconstruction.

She started to notice an infection on her ankle and in March 2023 she went to the ER. They tried to clear up the infection with antibiotics but discovered the infection went deeper. 6 days later they had to amputate the left leg below the knee...

This has been devasting for Jaime and her family. Next week she will undergo surgery on the other leg and is expected to be in the hospital for many months during recovery. She will need a prosthesis which must be replaced every 3-5 years.

Her partner was the breadwinner and he is now having to take time off work to be the caregiver for their 2 young children while Jaime is in the hospital. Between the mounting hospital bills and now loss of work this family could really use your help. Please consider giving any amount you can to help Jaime and her family during this time and the long road they face ahead.

Thank you for taking time to read her story. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
