Hi Framily,
I’ve gone back and forth about creating this, but I’ve realized sometimes we need to lean on community just like I’ve been there for others. Right now, I’m waiting to get back on my workplace’s voluntary leave donation list, but in the meantime, the bills don’t pause. My partner, Ben, has been holding down so much already, and I’d like to lift a little of that weight. (Federal employees are exempt from state disability and there is no short-term disability option for me at the moment — checking on FECA with our employee relations.)
I’ve set this fundraiser for $3,940, which will catch me up and cover my rent through the next two months. If contributions go beyond that, they’ll be set aside for essentials while I bridge this period until my income starts again (expected mid- to late-November). Anything beyond immediate needs would go toward living expenses like groceries and recurring bills, paying down debt or saving toward a replacement car — mine was declared a “total loss” the other month while on this medical leave, and the insurance payout has already gone toward past rent and expenses.
There’s absolutely no expectation, but if you’re able and feel called to help, it would mean the world. Even sharing this link is support. Thank you for being part of my community as I sort out what started this health journey at work, and the recalled trauma along the way while I continue taking time to focus on myself for once — physical, mental, spiritual, etc.
P.S. In the image for this GoFundMe, I’m using a quote I gained by chatting with other veterans; I do not want anyone to give from anything other than abundance — please.
