Last week I lost my childhood friend and soul sister. She was an amazing imaginative light to those who knew her. I watched her become an FIDM student, a hairstylist, a bridesmaid, a wife, a mom, a local artist, but she was always my wild and always up-for-anything companion. We had wild adventures and walked the path of life together through many happy moments as well as struggles and challenges.
Six months ago she sent me the following message 'Becky I want you to promise me that you will take Mia over in Spain for a while in the next couple years. I want her to do the things I didn't to make her a better woman. Soon I'm making a bank account for her for Spain. So we will be putting money into it when we can. It's really important for me to give my kid the things I couldn't have. And I have one of my roots over there. I miss you like crazy.' As one of her roots I want to make sure I keep my promise to make sure her children get to be just what she wanted, as I know she wouldn't expect any less from me and her tribe of friends and family.
This is just the beginning. To offer her darling kids Mia and Presley the financial freedom to follow their dreams whatever they may be. The long term goal is to set up a trust fund in their names.
We all knew Jamie had a passive for art, an unstoppable imagination and fire for life. She adored the works of Gustav Klimt & Frida Kahlo. Jamie's grace and poise came right off the catwalks of Europe. Her fashion sense and style were entirely her own. I know now she will never be able to make it to Europe to immerse herself in the art, history and culture nor her beloved dream to see Paris, but I will personally guarantee that she will in spirit, through our efforts and through her kids.
Please help me keep my promise and create the means for Presley and Mia to become the better man and woman their mother wanted them to be.
