Family, friends and followers:
It is with all the sadness in my heart that I announce the untimely death of one of my best, most beloved, and closest friends, Jaime Fernandez.
His sudden passing has left a big hole in my heart as well as in the hearts of all who knew him and loved him.
And though our hearts continue to break with every sweet memory of his goodheartedness, his devotion to his four children and his newfound love for Jesus, we must also remember the unshakeable pain his family is experiencing at this time and do whatever we can to lighten their load. And in that way, honor his life and memory.
I know it’s a difficult time for so many people right now, especially because of the current pandemic we’re all living in, but if you can find it in your heart to donate anything at all — even if it’s just a few dollars — to help his family cover funeral costs, I would appreciate it wholeheartedly.
Because for me, Jaime was the brother I never had. In good and bad times, through thick and thin, we always had each other’s backs. We grew up together, sharing way too many memories to count. From little kids to teenagers and later from professionals to parents, we went through it all together.
Just some days ago, he called me to remind me to be safe because of all that’s going on in the world right now. He was always looking out for me like did with his own sister.
Jaime was passionate about music and lyrics and loved coming up with a good rap. His artist name was “Kali” or “Kaliche” in honor of his Colombian roots and his love of Salsa.
And of course, there was nothing in the world he loved more than his children. He was a dedicated father, always posting pictures of his “tribe,” never missing an opportunity to let everyone know his kids were his everything. And most recently, he had developed a stronger connection with God, talking often about God’s love and power over our lives.
I still can’t believe he’s gone. We will miss you so much, Jaime. You’ll live on in all our memories forever. May you rest in heavenly peace and may God grant your children the faith and strength they need to overcome the deep pain caused by your absence.
