Jaime Balderrama was diagnosed with ALS 5 years ago. His doctors had anticipated that he will not make it another 2 years. But Jaime was a fighter. He exceeded that 2 years the doctor anticipated. Over the past five years, he had fell twice and broke both side of his hips and had hip replacement. He was very determine to walk. Did his very best with therapy and was able to get himself walking again within a month. Because of his falls and him being diagnosed with ALS, Isaac (his son) and I took him in to care for him. Jaime was such a loving and caring person. So full of life. Always tried his best to help all his children and grandchildren.

As the years go by, we have seen a major decline on his physical health. Just 6 months ago, he started having trouble sitting and standing and eventually became bed bound. Although he was not able to do much, he tried his best to stay positive for everyone.

On April 25, 2021, he started having complications. He was not able to drink his water or talk. Isaac slept in his room with him for 2 nights when Jaime suddenly became unconscious in the morning of April 27th, 2021. Ambulance was called. They tried to resuscitate him on his way to Regions Hospital where they had announced that he had passed.

A little back story of why we are asking for help. My brother had passed away (homicide case). My older brother had passed away because he was epileptic and my father had passed away from kidney failure, all within a four year timeframe. All our savings have been used for them. It’s hard to recover financially from all that. And now we are asking for any donations to help with our father, Jaime. Anything will do. Even if its a prayer, it will mean so much for us. Thank you.
