Hello!
My name is Jailene Miranda-Enriquez. I am currently a junior at STRIVE Preparatory-SMART Academy. My goal after high school is to attend Stanford University to study engineering.
I am passionate about engineering because not many Hispanic women are represented in this field. I believe that engineering is necessary for society to keep progressing, and I want to contribute towards the future of engineering!
I am honored to have been accepted into the highly selective Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institute. I am participating in the Investigations for Engineering three-week session in which only 40 students worldwide were admitted to. This is a very high achievement, and I have worked extremely hard to achieve this goal. Through this program, I will be taking courses instructed by Stanford professors to learn more about the basics of engineering; I will then work with my peers on a project to demonstrate all of the skills I will have acquired. This program will give me the opportunity to experience the Stanford campus, to get a glimpse of student life, and to expand my knowledge base as a first-generation college student.
I will greatly appreciate any funding! The cost of this program is a roadblock for my attendance because the price is unrealistic for my family and I to pay. Thank you for your consideration and support!
Best,
Jailene
