The purpose of this gofundme is to raise funds for “JAIABOARDS - The new electronic board for Tap and Step dance”. All donations will be used to fund the initial launch and invest in this new technology. We are asking people to donate as little as $5 to help us achieve our goal. We need a majority of funds September 17th, 2020 for legal purposes.
JAIABOARDS HISTORY
JAIABOARDS were created after my daughter Jaia Perkins (age 9) and I were watching the movie “Tap” with Gregory Hines. In the last scene Gregory Hines tapped in special shoes that made different sounds.
Jaia looked at me and said “I figured out how they made this scene. They put the sound in the boards”. When I tried to correct her because I scene the movie a bunch of times. She insisted it was in the boards “because if it were in the shoes the technology would break” and she walked away.
As a parent I admire the freedom of creativity of the youth so I asked myself “what if the sounds were in the boards?” Low and behold JAIABOARDS were created allowing dancers to plug into amplifiers, loop machines and drum modules.
TAP TECHNOLOGY
The technology for tap has not changed since 1914 when taps were added to shoes.Unfortunately the technology has changed for other instruments making it difficult for tap to compete with the volume of other instruments.
A good band will know how to lower the music or play the pause for the tap dancer but often times this is not the case. As a result tap dancer have to tap a lot harder to get the volume needed to be heard over live bands or amplified music.
JAIABOARDS ARE THE FUTURE
JAIABOARDS are eletronic tap boards that picks up vibrations and connections to an amplifier with out the use of microphones.
Microphones by nature suppress vibrations and picks up all sounds that travel through the air. As a result when tap dancers put microphones next to their boards they are not only picking up the sound of the taps but the sounds of the band in the background.
Using JAIABOARDS technology vibration sensors are used to to pick up the original tap sound caused by vibrations on the tap board without picking up any other sounds. This will allow the tap dancer to be heard over the band and plug into the sound system just like all the other instruments.

•Tap dancers conserve their energy allowing them to perform longer
•Tap dancers can now plug into the sound system and blend in with all the other instruments.
•Bands will no longer have to lower their music to allow for taps to be heard.
