My journey
My journey started back in 2022 where I was diagnosed with a rare form of salivary gland cancer. Since that diagnosis I have undergone 3 surgery’s, 6 weeks of radiotherapy and 6 rounds of chemotherapy. Unfortunately back in may I was re diagnosed with multiple tumours growing back around the original site they have removed it from before and was told there wasn’t much more that could be done. So i heard the dreaded words that I was too live life until my body could no longer live. Too which I am finding new purpose and any reason to make the most of however long I have left.
Fortunately I am one of the lucky ones, I have recently been put forward for trial drugs in which could have a positive impact on affecting the tumours in me but there is no guarantee with these types of trials, but is hopefully a step in the right direction.

My why
My why is to try leave this world in a better place and do something impactful before I leave. My aim is for however long I have left, is too be able too say I have left an impact and influence on the world, and make things just that little bit better. As I keep saying it is no longer about me, it is about making sure that I can make it slightly better for everyone else. Whether that is through those I influence through coaching or helping charities to provide care for others or just have a positive impact on those in my everyday life.

The what?
I have entered myself in an ultra loop race on the 20th of October in which I have 8 hours to run as many laps as possible of an 8km circuit. My aim is to run 60km ultramarathon and considering last year in October I was using a simmer frame cos I couldn’t walk properly I am inclined to say it will be tough on the old legs.
An ultramarathon has been on my bucket list for a while so I am killing two birds with one stone, to try and raise as much money as possible while ticking off my bucket list.

The who?
I have decided to raise money for the teenage cancer trust and Claire’s house in which any money donated will be split evenly between.
Without these two charities the time I have had over the past 2 years would of been so much harder, teenage cancer trust have looked after me while I was going through all my surgeries and treatments and continue too look after me after re diagnoses.
They provide children and young people with so many opportunities making them feel as normal as they can and allow them to live life to the fullest of potential by looking after them with separate treatment rooms but also allowing them to go to events with other people on treatment and giving them opportunities they might not of had before.
Claire House Children’s Hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children make the most of the time they have however long or short that may be. By providing specialist nursing and end of life care, as well as emotional support Claire House helps families through some of the toughest times of their lives.

I am asking you to share and donate any spare change you may have cos any donation can really help these charities provide people who are like me with opportunities, support and care and make their lives slightly better when going through such a hard time.
