My name is Jafar Al-Agha. I am from Gaza. I am married and a father of three children: Mohammed, 15 years old, Noor, 12 years old, and Abdul Rahman, 10 years old. I used to have two houses, in addition to my own business, which provided me with a decent income..

I have been displaced seven times in search of a safer place away from the horrors of shelling. During these displacements, we lost the husband of my sister due to the bombing of his house. He was buried without a farewell due to the intensity of the shelling. Throughout the repeated displacement, I learned that my house was completely destroyed by the aerial bombardment.

During the humanitarian ceasefire on November 24, I moved to my second house in Khan Yunis. However, when the ceasefire ended, specifically on December 5, we came under attack by tanks, and heavy gunfire resulted in the injury of my sister. We managed to provide her with first aid after she bled continuously for 22 hours in front of her children. Then we carried her and ran a distance of 2 kilometers because the ambulances couldn't reach our house.

While my sister was being transported to the hospital for treatment, I lost contact with my small family due to the severed communications and the inability to communicate. I stayed with her as her companion for 20 days to receive treatment, despite being injured in the face during the same attack.

I found them after much hardship, and they had been displaced for the eighth time, staying with another family in the Deir al-Balah area in the middle of the Gaza Strip.
They were experiencing severe post-traumatic stress disorder, especially the children, as a natural result of what they had been through during the siege of their house, the gunfire, and seeing the blood of their injured relatives for a continuous 22 hours under a hail of bullets. In addition to the inhumane conditions they were living in, with no water, electricity, gas, food, or clothes, they had lost a lot of weight due to severe food shortages.
It was a decisive moment when I felt weak and lost, and I realized that I needed help without hesitation in order to overcome the difficulties that one person cannot handle alone without the assistance of people with humanitarian consciences.
The breakdown of the costs is as follows:
- $6,000 for one year's rent for a house, averaging $500 per month.
- $7,000 for furniture and household supplies.
- $6,000 for clothes and necessities for five individuals, averaging $1,200 per person.
- $7,000 for living expenses, averaging $600 per month for one year
Together, they began to rebuild—not just a house, but a home filled with love and resilience. Jafar's journey was far from over, but he had found a glimmer of hope in the darkest of times.
