Hi, my name is Lisa, and my daughter Jadeyn is a pretty special kid.

Not only is she an incredible person, she’s also an incredibly dedicated hockey goalie. Her love for the hockey began when she was little, watching her older brother play. She asked if she could play too, found her position is in net and has been chasing her hockey dreams ever since.

Jadeyn is now 16 and was offered a spot at Purcell Hockey Academy in Kimberley, BC. She’ll be living in dorms with other female hockey players from around the world while completing Grade 12, fully immersed in hockey. Her goal? To earn a college scholarship and play at the highest levels of women's hockey. If you ask her enough times, she’ll even admit that her big dream is to play in the PWHL one day!

Jadeyn’s hockey journey is anything but typical. For years, she played with boys because she couldn't find the right fit with girls. She’s played with Vancouver Minor and the Richmond Jets, often being one of the only girls in the league, and she never backed down from the challenge. She is very hard working and takes every ice time she can get, often showing up to train with teams and coaches she has never met. Jadeyn is also very proud to have played with her high school hockey team at KDHS for years. She even got a puck to the face once that needed stitches.

Jadeyn is proudly Jewish and has represented Maccabia three times: once with the girls’ team in Toronto and Montreal, and twice with the boys’ teams in Detroit and Pittsburgh. Leaving her Jewish day school community to attend Purcell was a big decision, but she’s committed to staying connected to her traditions and identity.

Purcell believes in her so much they awarded her a $10,000 needs-based scholarship. That leaves $42,000 as the cost for the year. Jadeyn found this program herself, set up her own interviews, and has spearheaded every aspect of her hockey career. She is so committed and passionate and she pushes herself over and over again both mentally and physically, to grow as a goalie and as a person.
