My journey began with the excitement of bettering my health. I started with working on weightloss. Through that journey, I became a whole new person. My confidence level rose. I was excited to meet some of my goals. My 2 main goals were to rollerblade again and with the help of my 10 year old son, we set the goal of losing 100lbs and going to Hershey Park. I used to rollerblade every day until I became too big to close them around my calves.
In May 2016, I rollerbladed again! I also taught my son to skate. I can run up the hill in a race against him as well. Life began again! As of June 2016, I lost 115lbs. HersheyPark, here we come, right? But no, the universe had a different plan for me. On July 7th 2016, I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, later to find out it was a Triple Negative Tumor.
Despite this diagnosis, I have continued working as much as possible through my treatments. Some days are better than others. I still show up to work with a smile on my face. However, underneath that smile is a body full of pain.
I have 8 total chemo treatments. I will then be scheduled for surgery. I am on treatment #3. I relocated in February, so I am going through these treatments alone. I wear a superhero shirt to each treatment and I rock out to Pandora. This is a race to surgery. The fight of my life.
I found out that when I go out for surgery, I am only allotted 30 days and recovery time exceeds this. So, my position at work would be terminated. It's hard to wrap my head around this as I am such a dedicated worker. Hopefully, I will be able to return shortly after recovery. I do not have short term disability. Any unworked hours are unpaid.
I am asking for help to maintain my basic living expenses and unpaid medical bills during this difficult time. Some of the funds would be used to get a family member here for my surgery date. Please know that if you can't donate, prayers are accepted as well! Any amount is helpful, no matter how small.
This will help me to focus on my health and recovery without having to worry about basic necessities.
