14-month-old Jade Ramey was diagnosed at 3-months-old with septo-optic dysplasia, panhypopituitarism, diabetes insipidus, adrenal insufficiency, and intractable focal epilepsy, better known as “hard to treat” epilepsy, characterized by seizures uncontrolled with medication.

Despite months of trialing the best anti-seizure medications and a failed epilepsy neurosurgery, Jade has had to live a life with seizures occurring multiple times a day paired with frequent life-threatening electrolyte imbalances caused by her septo-optic dysplasia. For Jade, living with septo-optic dysplasia has been as equally difficult as living with uncontrolled epilepsy. It has left Jade blind and without the ability to carry the weight of her head or body because of her body’s inability to produce growth hormone needed in muscle building.

Because her comorbidities exacerbate one another and put her into emergency situations, Jade has been hospitalized 16 times since her diagnoses in May of 2023. She has seen the inside of an ambulance, a life-flight helicopter, spent her first Christmas in the hospital, and has been hospitalized for many of her precious early milestones.

As her family, all we want is to see is Jade thrive and live the life she deserves. Every day is a challenge as we navigate her complex medical conditions. But amid the struggles, there's hope, and that hope lies in stem cell therapy.
