My name is Kristen Hickman, Jades Mother. My daughter was due to graduate high school at the top of her class with honors with a 4.2 GPA, she was diagnosed with end stage 5 kidney failure and had to start dialysis immediately.
Her autoimmune disease is called Granulomatosis with polyangiitis, short for “wegeners” which is a disease that attacks the ears, nose & throat.
After she graduated, she planned to become a teacher and start her life but instead she would have to go to a facility 3 days a week for 4 hours to do treatment to keep her alive. She is on a 32 oz fluid restriction as well as a renal diet. Jades autoimmune disease is extremely strong, if she were to get a kidney transplant at the moment, her body would attack itself. Without Dialysis treatment fluid & toxins build up in the body and blood, causing a condition called uremia. Death follows anywhere from a few days to several weeks if any treatment is missed. Jade is on going training coming up for home dialysis and the port being inserted March 22nd, from there she will do treatment at home, 7 days a week every night for 6-8 hours. Jade is never one to ask for help, financial costs are increasing and due to her having health issues, she
is unable to work consistently to keep up with a jobs needs & being dependent. Any donations will help and are greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your donations and support through this difficult time. Any contribution will take us a step closer to our goal!
