Hi Everyone!

This page was created by those that love & care for the Villanueva/Crespo family. We are asking for the community to come together and rally in support of Jaden Villanueva in light of his recent surgery.

As many of you know, Jaden, now 10 years old, was born with craniosynostosis(fusion of the skull) and achondroplasia (dwarfism). Over the years, this has resulted in Jaden needing 5 intensive surgeries, the first one being at the tender age of 4 months old.  In later years, Jaden was also diagnosed with Autism.

The most recent surgery, Laforte Surgery III, took place on March 26, 2015. Due to his craniosynostosis and achondroplasia, his midface, from his eye socket to his upper jaw, did not grow with the rest of his face causing him to struggle with breathing, chewing and sleep apnea for many years. As a result the need for this facial reconstructive surgery was medically necessary.

The surgery lasted 6 hours and thankfully the doctor was pleased with the results. The post operative plan was that Jaden would be medically sedated for 72 hours with a breathing tube and his mouth wired shut in order to allow the healing process to begin. At most, he was expected to remain in the hospital for a total of 5 days. Unfortunately, during his state of sedation, Jaden ran a fever, one of his lungs collapsed and the other filled with fluid.  Due to this, his breathing tube remained in for longer than expected and his stay in the hospital was extended, ultimately 11 days, 9 of them in ICU. His dedicated parents, Letty and Pedro, stayed by his side every minute of every day. Their love, faith and commitment are amazing! And true to form, Jaden proved to be one of the most courageous and strongest little boys we've ever met.

As Jaden heals, he continues to improve his walking (due to being bedridden, he lost the strength in his legs and had difficulty walking), eating and talking (having the tube in longer than expected created challenges in his ability to talk and eat due to sores that developed) with the hope that he can attend school again as routine and consistency are key with Autism.

The physical and emotional toll of this surgery, alone, is heartbreaking to say the least. To think that this is his 5th major surgery is difficult to grasp. It is not something that anyone should have to experience, let alone a child and especially not Jaden.

Throughout this experience, and until the present, there have been many conversations among Jaden's loved ones- grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues-and each time the conversation leads to the same question, what can we do to help?

And so this page came to be. Any funds raised through this campaign will be used to assist with the daunting reality of the medical expenses associated with the procedure and to make sure that Jaden gets what he negotiated before going into surgery- if he cooperated and was brave, he would get to see the orcas in Seaworld.  Jaden has exceeded the expectations on his end of the bargain. Please help us in easing the burden and giving him a once in a lifetime experience.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support!

Love,
