Hello, my name is Jade Evink, and I am trying to raise money to go on foreign exchange for my junior year in high school.
This is very important to me, because I`ve always wanted to explore things outside myself. Life and culture in another country for example.
When we hear about life in other places, it`s always a diluted, and maybe even untrue (for the most part) version of how it really is. I live in Texas, and there`s a stereotype that all Texans have a country accent, wear cowboy hats, and use "howdy y`all." in every conversation. I can confirm that none of this is completely true, and is totally over-exaggerated. Imagine instead of what`s said about a state, about a separate country. I want to experience it for myself!
I feel like the world has so many secrets, that many people don`t know and never will, because they never stepped out of what`s comfortable for them and tried something new. Travelling is one of the closest things to magic you can experience, to see the world around you change as you move, morphing out of what is normal for you, and into what somebody else knows so well. I want to know someone elses culture, their language, the way they express themselves and how they live, and maybe even give someone a taste of my own.
On the application, you get to rank your top 4 most desired countries. I picked, (in this order) France, Taiwan, Belgium, and Australia. I am also very interested in learning the French language. (I`m fairly marginal with it at the moment, seeing as I`m taking my second year of French at school). It is a very beautiful and rich language, and when it`s spoken fluently, it sounds very smooth, like it rolls off of the person speaking it`s tounge.
The application said that the cost could be from anywhere between $7,000-8,000, and the flat fee is $6,500. There are certain payments due in $2,100 intervals, the first being in January. I know that I can`t completely raise that much money by myself, but I will sure as heck try. Any support and assistance I can get is so very much appreciated. I will be doing many different things to earn money, and any tips on that would also be appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and any donations made, help ,me out so much.
