I am Jade Eichelberger. I'm a 19 year old self-published musician and a sophomore in college majoring in Theatre. I'm a great daughter, granddaughter,sister, niece, and friend. But along with all of this, I am a proud Black, Transgender, woman. These two words that stand before "woman" have sculpted the way in which I see life and how I value myself as a person.To be black in America is one of the most beautiful curses to have ever been cast and to be trans on top of that is a thorn within a fresh wound. The journey to happiness as a trans woman who is black is often a journey of regret, not regretting living our truths, but regretting the way society is shaped to where the endangerment and harassment of trans women of color is acceptable Passing in society is important to a lot of trans women but especially to black trans women, because being visibly trans in a community where homophobia and transphobia thrive is dangerous to one's life and safety. I have traveled down a long journey having started my transition at the age 13 and socially coming out at 16. Through these years, I've not been able to begin HRT. I'm asking you to join me in hand, raising money to begin my physical metamorphoses into the woman I've waited 19 years to be.
