My husband, Brad, and myself are friends of Jade and Jolene and would like to help them start over with new household items that were lost in a horrific accident during their move. Jade served his entire career in the Air Force and just recently retired. Jolene is an accountant with HDR Engineering supporting projects for DOD all over the world. They are great friends to us and many others serving our nation and co-workers at HDR. It is an honor to help them as much as possible during this difficult time.
Friday, July 10th, they left their home in Virginia with an escort of Brother Combat Vets and the intention of meeting up with the moving truck at the new home in Tennessee the next morning. They ran into a traffic jam about 2 hours from the new home. When they reached the cause of the traffic jam, they saw all of their worldly possessions being scooped up with an end loader and loaded into a dump truck. They lost all but about 1000 lbs of their physical home, but families, including the family of the truck driver lost cherished loved ones.
The towing company was extremely helpful in allowing them to filter through items from the dumpster collected from the accident scene. Their effort was focused on their most valuable possessions which were items that could not be replaced. There were very few things that could be recovered and the insurance on the move was pennies on the dollar.
Obviously there is no way to really estimate how much it would take to replace what they had, but I would love to bless them with a new start in their new home. Anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated!
