Animal Rescue organizations come in all shapes and forms. At Shih Tzu Rescue, Inc. we believe that all dogs deserve the chance to live a happy and healthy life.
We were delighted to receive Jada Rose, a sweet, lovable and playful 6 month old Shih Tzu puppy, who was surrendered to us by an owner who said she was unable to train her. Upon reviewing her medical records we found that the owner had taken her to a vet who found that she had a serious 5 out of 6 heart murmur and suspected that she might have a PDA and recommended that she be immediately evaluated by a cardiologist which was never done.
We immediately took her to our cardiologist who did an echo cardiogram and confirmed she had a serious PDA (patent [open] ductus arteriosus), a life threatening congenital heart defect that must be corrected in order for the dog to lead a normal life. Jada Rose’s condition was so advanced that she could go into congestive heart failure any moment and needed immediate surgery if she were to live.
We scheduled an appointment for immediate surgery with North America Veterinary Heart Center in Jupiter where Dr. Augusta Pelosi performed the life saving surgery. Jada's circumstances were so extreme, Dr. Pelosi moved the surgery sooner than scheduled.
Sweet little Jada Rose is recovering nicely and loves playing with her teddy bear, although she has to be confined to limited activity for the next six weeks. She is expected to live a normal, healthy life.
Please help us pay for Jada Rose’s $6,000 medical bill by making a Tax Deductible donation which will allow us to continue making immediate decisions to save dogs with life threatening conditions.
Helping Jada Rose and the many needy dogs like her has been our mission over the past 22 years, and it’s only because of generous and caring dog loving people that we are able to continue to be there for them.
We are endlessly grateful for and thank you for your support!
