I am Jada Marshall, a current first-year Master's student in Columbia University's School of Professional Studies' Nonprofit Management Program. I know that was wordy. In short, I got accepted into grad school and will be getting an MS in Nonprofit Management.
I need 2,000 dollars in two weeks to secure my spot in the program, so here is a little bit about me. I am a recent graduate of Fisk University in Nashville, TN. In May 2020, months after COVID, I graduated and landed my first professional full-time job as a music teacher at Sheffield Elementary school in Memphis, TN. I was actually accepted into Columbia University in April 2020 but decided to pursue formal education and professional work right away with advice from peers and mentors. However, My passion for working for mission-based organizations persisted. It began while interning at nonprofit organizations like the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, TN, and working at Kids Across America, an urban sports Camp in MO. I developed a devotion to nonprofit organizations in high school by participating in programs like the Maynard Jackson Youth Foundation, Giving Point, Youth Entrepreneurs of Georgia, and volunteering for the West End Arts Center. My diversified education would not have been possible without my involvement in nonprofit organizations like these, which is why I am determined to go back to school and pursue management in the nonprofit sector.
Teaching music was a great experience and yielded much growth; however, I have developed both the expertise and ambition to now enter Columbia University’s Nonprofit Management Program at the School of Professional Studies.
No man is an island, so I dare not do this alone. Every financial support I receive from you will help prepare me to continue on my path to impact the youth of tomorrow.
Thank you!
