JACQUE'S NURSING HOME CARE FOR FTD

Donation protected
14 months ago, Nicole knew something had changed with Jacque. She couldn't figure out what was going on, however she knew something in her husband had changed. Everyone who has known Jacque loves Jacque. He's the friendliest, sweetest guy, loves his wife, loves his boys, loves his mom, Dee and loves God above all else. Easygoing and kind. When Nicole started saying, "But something isn't right; he isn't being himself," we all knew something was wrong. The evaluations started with psychiatric and neuro exams for months on end (this is very common for patients with this diagnosis as it is very uncommon for 40-year-olds to be diagnosed with dementia, it is often first believed to be psychiatric because how could a 40 year old possibly have dementia)?

On September 13th, the two Neurologists from UF Health confirmed what Nicole (and all loved ones feared most), Jacque was diagnosed with Behavioral Variant Frontotemporal Dementia.

The hallmarks of bvFTD are personality changes, apathy, and a progressive decline in socially appropriate behavior, judgment, self-control, and empathy. Unlike in Alzheimer’s disease, memory is usually relatively spared in bvFTD. People with bvFTD typically do not recognize the changes in their own behavior, or exhibit awareness or concern for the effect their behavior has on the people around them.

Though there is no cure for bvFTD yet.

We are asking for donations for Jacque's future care, as the future is unknown and time is not guaranteed. Every patient's needs are different and with little Jac ( age 8), Callen (age 5) and Colt (age 3) we want to ensure Nicole has extra funds set aside for when they are in need for Jacque's future care needs. She has made it clear that is what this fund will be used for. Memory Care expenses are all out of pocket

It has been said about bvFTD, "This is the cruelest disease you've never heard of"

We love you Jacque. xoxo
