Hi, my name is Jacquelyn, and asking for help like this is not something I ever imagined I would need to do.

I am currently in nursing school, working toward a future that has always been built on resilience, hard work, and helping others. I have always covered my tuition by working extra shifts, overtime, and long hours and I had planned to do exactly that again this December.

Unfortunately, my health had other plans.

I was recently hospitalized with pneumonia and complications affecting my lungs. Because of this, I am now on strict medical restrictions and cannot return to work until mid-January. I am still recovering, still short of breath, and still fighting to regain my strength. As much as I want to push through, my body simply won’t allow it right now.

Classes begin January 5th, and my school payment is due in two weeks.

• Amount still needed: $1,000

I paid what I could, even while sick, because giving up has never been an option for me. But without being able to work overtime or work at all right now I am facing the very real possibility of being unable to continue my classes next term.

Nursing is not just a career for me. It is deeply personal. I have been on the other side of hospital beds. I know what it feels like to be vulnerable, scared, and dependent on compassionate care. That is exactly why I chose this path — to be the person who shows up for others on their hardest days.

Right now, I am the one needing help.
