Jacqueline Rose Watts’ cremation and Daughters

Hello everyone, my name is Vincent DiPatrizio and am the brother of Jacqueline “Jackie” Rose Watts.

It is with a heavy heart that I sit and compose this message to those it may reach. On January 7th, 2023 my sweet sister Jackie lost her nearly 3 year long battle with breast cancer. She leaves behind her two young daughters, Milah (7 years old) and Paige (5 years old) her fiancé Foley, and her friends and family.

Jackie was diagnosed with Stage-4 Breast Cancer in April of 2020. She noticed a small lump, which was accompanied by pain, in her chest. At first she thought it was a clogged milk duct, however the pain was getting worse. This prompted her to seek medical attention. After many tests, scans and visits with the doctors, her worst fear was confirmed. Jackie had the BRCA2 gene mutation and was diagnosed with stage-4 breast cancer metastasized to her liver, lungs, brain and bones.

Throughout her tumultuous battle, she remained hopeful, optimistic, and gave every last ounce of energy she could muster to combat her illness. Jacky finished one round of chemo in November 2020. After 7 months of chemotherapy Jackie was hoping to be in remission, however the scans would show new mets in her body. Jackie stayed strong and kept fighting until her body couldn’t take it anymore. In November of 2022 Jackie was hospitalized due to pneumonia, a partially collapsed lung and fluid in her lungs. Jackie was home for a few days before she returned to the hospital with difficulty breathing. The physicians treated her for her pneumonia and drained her lungs. She was starting to feel better and was optimistic and started her second round of chemo on Monday January 2nd at Sutter medical center in Sacramento. Her hair started to fall out and her nurse came in with clippers and cut her hair into a short bob which as she described ‘it came out quite nice’. The last time I spoke to Jackie she was excited to be discharged from the hospital this weekend and start rehabilitation next week and continue her fight against cancer. Jackie continued to hope, pray and believed that it was not her time yet. Jackie got her second dose of chemo on Thursday January 5th. Jackie started to decline quickly after this dose as her body was unable to tolerate it. The physicians believe Jackie developed Tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) from the chemo, which ultimately put her in multiple organ failure. She died surrounded by her family.

Jackie was the most amazing mother to her daughters, the sweetest sister to her siblings, the kindest, most selfless person one could know. She was my best friend and she will be missed dearly.

Jackie’s wish was to be cremated and her ashes to be released in the water. I set up a fundraiser to cover her cremation and service expenses, and financial help for her surviving children. Any help would be appreciated to honor our sweet sister Jackie.
