Four friends will be taking on Hadrian’s Wall during the August bank holiday weekend to raise money for a worthy cause

JACOB'S MARCH
HADRIANS WALL

As Centurions!!!

On 26th August friends; Ben Saltmer, Chris Cooke, David Fearnley and Richard Gilmartin, will be embarking on the 150km challenge to raise funds for treatment for a family friend's young boy named Jacob who has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy Spastic Diplegia.

The initial challenge was set in January of this year when only one of the six in the cohort had any real experience of running distance. However the team have come a long way after many training runs and they are now prepared for their final stint – Hadrian’s Wall. The run is expected to take the team three days to complete and what’s more they will be dressed as Centurions throughout!

There have been numerous fundraising activities to support Jacob’s treatments and Jacob’s family have successfully raised £75,000 for life changing surgery at St Louis hospital in America. Since the operation Jacob is recovering well showing great signs of improvement.

Full details of the existing fundraising activities can be found on the family’s facebook page here :

However the fundraising doesn’t stop there. The money raised for Jacob’s march will go towards vital physiotherapy for Jacob which will cost in the region of £300 a week as well as equipment expenses.
