Jacobs Ridge Infirmary

Jacobs Ridge Animal Sanctuary has been operational for over 12 years and provides a safe, loving home to abandoned, abused and neglected animals.

Why we're raising money
Jacobs Ridge Animal Infirmary – A Safe Haven for the Most Vulnerable

At Jacobs Ridge Animal Sanctuary, we believe that every animal deserves comfort, care, and dignity, especially those who are elderly, disabled, or recovering from illness or injury. While our sanctuary has provided a loving home for rescued animals since 2012, we now need to take the next step in ensuring their well-being.

We have rented the existing Ridge site since 2012. We managed to secure an additional piece of land 2 years ago, however after purchase (despite doing our due diligence), we were told by authorities that the pigs could never live there as it is a very protected piece of land and the pigs are classed as invasive.

As we have already been through so much stress and invested a lot on the new piece of land already, we didn´t want to sell it. And so, we aim to operate TWO sanctuaries and help even more animals in need.

We are fundraising now to buy the original sanctuary site to secure the livelihood of 50 pigs and to turn it into a dedicated infirmary, a state-of-the-art veterinary facility designed to offer specialized care for our most vulnerable residents.

Purchasing the property is the first step! And that is what we are fundraising for today. We have a short time window as the landlord has another buyer and wants to sell in June! We can´t stress how urgent this is. Without this land, the pigs don´t have a home as they are not permitted to be moved.

Please help us to keep the home for the pigs and to create the infirmary. Read on to find out our plans for the site:

What the Infirmary Will Offer
This purpose-built space will include:

A fully equipped veterinary clinic – including scanners, mobile X-ray equipment, and essential diagnostic tools.

Recovery areas for all species – ensuring that every animal, from the smallest to the largest, has a safe and comfortable place to heal.

Specialized treatment support – including hoists, large scales, and treatment frames to accommodate animals with mobility issues.

A fully stocked medical supply room – so that urgent care and routine treatments can be administered immediately.

Why It Matters
Right now, many of our elderly and disabled animals are housed alongside younger, stronger residents, which can put them at risk of injury or stress. This infirmary will give them a dedicated, protected space where they can recover, rest, and receive the care they need without unnecessary disturbances.

Additionally, the presence of a fully functional on-site clinic means that we will no longer have to transport animals off-site for medical attention unless absolutely necessary. This reduces stress, speeds up treatments, and improves recovery outcomes.

Veterinary Care Like Never Before
With this infirmary, on-site veterinary care will be vastly improved. Visiting vets will have access to modern equipment and proper facilities, allowing them to provide more effective and immediate treatment. We are also planning to hire an on-site veterinarian, ensuring that emergency care is available whenever it’s needed—without delays or unnecessary call-out fees.

A Natural Evolution of Our Mission
The infirmary isn’t replacing Jacobs Ridge—it’s enhancing it. By complementing our existing sanctuary, we can offer a new level of care, ensuring that no animal suffers due to lack of proper medical support. This facility will allow us to continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and providing lifelong care to animals who need us the most.

With your support, we can build a space that gives these animals the comfort, security, and expert care they deserve.

Be a Part of the Change
Every donation brings us closer to making this infirmary a reality. Join us in creating a future where every rescued animal gets the medical care and dignity they deserve.
