Jacob’s Joy

Donation protected
On 08/27/2020, the Linn family received devastating news. Their oldest child - 4-year-old Jacob - was diagnosed as having a cancerous brain tumor known as a medulloblastoma. Jacob had recently started suffering from bad headaches and trouble sleeping. On early morning hours of August 26th, Jacob was taken to the hospital because his headaches and nausea were so bad that he could not sleep. After spending the night at the hospital and receiving an MRI the next morning, Jacob underwent a six hour surgery to remove a tumor the size of a plum. The operation was successful, but doctors found smaller portions of cancer near his spine that they were not able to remove through surgery. Jacob has been busy recovering from the intense surgery and is now facing the start of a long journey for him and the rest of the Linn Family. According to doctors, Jacob is looking at a yearlong treatment plan consisting of radiation, chemotherapy, and possibly more surgery. Jacob is loved dearly by many, but most of all his parents, Alex and Stephanie Linn.

Alex and Stephanie have been married for twelve years. Alex has been an officer with the Noblesville Police Department for almost nine years, the last four of which he has served as a K-9 unit. Alex and Stephanie also have two other children - Eric (3 years) and Andrew (6 months). Jacob loves Paw Patrol, superheroes (Superman, Spiderman and Batman), Transformers, anything police and books, especially the Bible! He was going to start t-ball next spring for the first time as well but sadly will have to miss his first year.

The next twelve months will be a long, tough, and painful journey for Jacob and the Linns. Alex will be making three-hour trips to a hospital in Cincinnati with Jacob where he will receive his treatment. These will be for six weeks at a time, during which they will likely not be able to return home. During this time, their plan is for Stephanie to be taking care of their other two boys during the treatment.

Amidst their pain and grief, the Linn family is finding help in two truths, the first being that as Christians they have a personal relationship with the God of the Bible through Jesus. They find comfort that He experienced a full measure of pain on earth, and that being resurrected from the dead He now lives to help and strengthen them every day for the race that He has called them to.

The second helpful truth is that they are surrounded by so many helpers like YOU--extended family, colleagues, neighbors, church members, strangers, and an untold number of friends new and old. The Linns feel immensely supported with love, care, encouragement, and strength from those who have selflessly dropped what they’re doing to lend a hand. THANK YOU!

Any donations will help the Linns pay for medical expenses, travel, hotel costs, and food throughout Jacob's treatment.
