Hi, I am Bianca. I am mommy to 5 children and 4 fur babies. We’re a single-family home located along the Colorado River in beautiful Earp, CA. I’m here to share my story and ask for help for my furson Jakey. Jacob is an 8-month-old Bernedoodle. He was kicked in the face by a wild burro. My hope for him is to receive help to heal so he can continue training and help me serve others in my role as a peer support specialist. He’s an animal with a plan and a purpose. He is my gift from God.
On the morning of September 25, 2025, a herd of burros came into the yard while the dogs were eating on the porch. With new baby donkeys being born, the mothers are very protective. The donkeys are also very aggressive and take the dogs' food. (Everything has to be stored inside; even containers will not keep the donkeys out.) Jacob was kicked in the face by a burro. He received several breaks to his lower mandible and lost his adult teeth that were starting to grow in.
After an emergency visit to the veterinarian, she explained he would need to see a board-certified dentist to repair the kind of damage he has. Without this treatment, he will be permanently disfigured and could have complications with the broken bones and teeth fragments still left behind.
Jacob has a follow up appointment scheduled for October 23, 2025. He will need to be sedated and have new x-rays taken.
We live really far from any kind of facility that can help him. With your help, I can make a way to get to treatment. I am asking for help with travel expenses and the cost of his veterinary bills. Let’s help Jakey get the surgery he needs so he can be the service animal he was designed to be, pain-free and in good health!
