Our friend and true Maine folk hero, Jacob Augustine was involved in a serious car accident on I-95 this past Sunday. Through miraculous luck, he was not seriously injured. However, his car was totaled, his guitars and other music equipment broken beyond repair, and worst of all, his beloved rescue dog Marvin was ejected through the windshield of the car as it rolled. Marvin fled the accident in a panic and has been missing since. Jacob was rushed to Penobscot Valley Hospital and wasn't able to search for him until after he was released.
Jacob needs our help. After three years away from music, largely spent caring for his late mother Maureen, Jacob finally made the decision to return to music full time this fall. He's been writing, recording, playing shows, and making major plans for 2019. He's never had more energy or a more positive outlook on life. This accident is a setback. He's lost his means of transportation, his guitars, his PA, and more; all told easily more than a $10,000 loss.
And Marvin... If you know Jacob, you know Marvin is his partner in crime, his loving companion, and so much more than just a pet: truly family. The search continues for Marvin, who was last seen near by Big Apple in Mattawamkeag Maine. More information via this Bangor Daily News article and Jacob's sister, Sarah's Facebook page.
We know Jacob's community is massive. His powerful songs and unparalleled live performances have touched innumerable people across the state of Maine, the country, and beyond. His music has been a healing spirit to people in need and a guide for many going through difficult times. If you're one of the many of us who's been lifted up by Jacob's songs, please consider giving what you can. Together, we can help get him back on his feet. The world's a better place when Jacob Augustine's making music in it.
