Jacob's Backpack Brigade 2018
Donation protected
It's our 6th year and we're hoping to be bigger and better as our community in conjunction with Idylwood Presbyterian Church sets out to make a BIG difference for deserving kids with our 6th Annual Jacob’s Backpack Brigade and Power Packs in memory of sweet Jacob Stanley Osman and his brother Eric Nash who lost valiant battles each at the age of 8 to adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD).

What’s a Backpack Brigade?
It is an opportunity to put smiles on children’s faces! We will be providing backpacks, supplies and financial support for students at Lemon Road Elementary School who might have difficulty filling their school supply needs for the coming school year. With this small contribution from each of us… we can take that huge piece of stress off these kids and their families as they get ready for the Fall. The supplies are put into reusable grocery bags donated by Trader Joe's and labled boy/girl and grade level. This allow the kids to select their own backpack - which is, of course, fun! Below is a photo of just some of the supplies from last years efforts.

What's a Power Pack?
Power Packs are a collection of non perishable breakfast, snacks and lunch foods that we collect and assemble to be given to kids so that they will have food over the weekends. We provide Power Packs to kids at Lemon Road Elementary and Shrevewood Elementary year round.
How can you participate?
Our church members, in conjunction with our neighbors and Trader Joe's, have managed to meet the needs of these kids for the past 5 years. However, the number of families in need continues to rise and we want to help more kids in more ways. So, we are looking for sponsors to help fund this effort. 100% of the funds will go towards assisting families with backpacks, school supplies, school trip fees, PE uniform costs and support of IPC's Powerpack Program which supports the same children by providing food over the weekends and summer months.
Many many thanks for your consideration in making a donation to our efforts. No amount is too small.
You can also contribute by just sharing this post!
And for those of you who like to get out and be "hands on"... we will gather to assemble the backpacks in August and the Power Pack teams are always looking for an extra set of hands to put the packs together. A special thanks to Falls Church Presbyterian for making Power Packs part of their summer bible camp this year!
We know that Jacob and Eric are proud of this effort and would like to see us continuing to aim for the stars!
