Hi, this is Jacob’s Dad, Stephen (Steve) and I set this GoFundMe up to help Jacob with all of the expenses piling up as a result of a thoughtless driver speeding and attempting to pass another car around a curve and coming into Jacob’s lane where he hit Jacob’s car head on. 

Jacob is now in a severe coma, in the ICU at the trauma center with a Traumatic Brain Injury, intracranial pressure, swelling and bleeding in his brain stem. He had surgery to repair the compound fracture in the lower long-bone (ulna) of his left arm, surgery to repair his lacerated spleen, and we are waiting and watching on his lacerated kidney and a broken orbital bone (above his left eye socket).

We are a little over a week into this marathon of recovery, and are still praying for the brain bleeds to heal, and the intracranial pressure to reduce along with the brain stem swelling to reduce to better assess next steps. 

We have rejoiced at some small wins, baby steps in the right direction, but have so far to go before we ever get to inpatient rehabilitation and then outpatient rehabilitation and in-home care.
