Jacob William Crawford, better known as Jake, was born in Moline, IL, on January 18, 1980. He grew up in Moline, but Florida has been his home for many years, more specifically Stuart, Florida.
In Florida he was working at the Martin County Library System, where he met his wife Christina Lee. They were married in Stuart, Florida on May, 2015.
He enjoyed reading, comic books, music, and following sports. He also enjoyed helping his father in law tend the family's orange grove. What he really loved was being the best possible uncle to his nieces and nephew, Maggie, Miles, Minerva and Evelynn.
In 2018 Jake was diagnosed with an extremely rare Desmoid Tumor. After a long surgery and recovery process, Jake was able to get back to the things he loved: family, football, and being a very involved uncle. However, in February of 2020 Jake had to be hospitalized due complications around a new mass on his intestines. After surgery to remove the mass, he received news in mid-March that the mass was malignant, and he began a new fight with Peritoneal Mesothelioma. Unfortunately, Jake lost his battle with both diseases at the age 40 and passed away on April 1, 2020.
Any money raise here will be going toward his outstanding medical bills. Any money in excess after the bills are paid will be donated to The Desmoid Tumor Research Fund and the Applied Mesothelioma Research Foundation in Jake's name.
In addition to his nieces and nephew, Jacob is survived by his wife, Christina Lee, Stuart, FL; his mother, Cindy (Martin) Crawford, Rock Island, IL; his father and stepmother, Mike and Debbie Crawford, Moline, IL; his brother Michael (Amy) Crawford, Moline, IL; his brother Joseph (Kristina) Crawford, Rock Island, IL; his grandfather, Alvin Martin, Rock Island, IL; Jessica Myers, Rock Island, IL; Thompkim, Man Sin and Dorothy Lee Hobe, Sound FL; Kerwin and Adrienne Torres, Stuart, FL; lifelong friend, Curt Johnson, Moline, IL; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jacob was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frances Martin, Rock Island, IL; Naomi Crawford, Moline, IL; Forrest Crawford, Moline, IL; Ellen Crawford, Moline, IL; and his aunt Rebecca Martin, Batavia, IL.
