Jacob's Mission Trip to Japan

What will I be doing?
I’ll be joining a two-week prayer journey organised by OMF around Hokkaido, the northern island of Japan, starting in early July. I’ll be joined by 5 others on the trip, and we will be visiting 4 churches around the island. The main purpose of the journey is to pray for the Japanese people, and for the churches we visit. We’ll be doing this through prayer walks and by helping to run some activities focused around prayer for the churches. We may also have time to meet with some OMF workers on the island, and to pray with them too.
Why go on a short-term trip?
I’ve been interested in mission work for a while, mainly through my Dad’s involvement in supporting missionaries at our church. After my Dad passed away last January, I took even more of an interest in mission work, and have even had the chance to visit some friends who serve around the world, including some who spent a number of years serving in Japan.
I have been considering a future in ministry, and given my interest in overseas mission work, I was thinking a short-term trip would be a good way to explore whether it was right for me. The moment I truly knew God wanted me to go was when a friend - without knowing I’d already been thinking about it - spent an hour insisting I needed to go on a mission trip. That confirmed for me that I should explore whether it would be possible to go, and as time went on I felt led to this particular prayer journey in Hokkaido.
Why Japan?
The truthful answer is that I don’t fully know why. I rather randomly decided to start learning a bit of Japanese last summer - partly inspired after visiting friends who had served in Japan, and partly because of another friend who had studied some Japanese. I thought I’d do a few Duolingo lessons as a bit of fun, but I was enjoying it a lot and never stopped learning. Surprisingly, I haven’t found it as hard to learn as I expected, although I am still very much a beginner! So once I felt God was calling me to go on a short-term trip, Japan was the obvious choice.
How can you support me?
The trip will Cost me around £1800, of which my church is generously giving me a third. I would be very grateful for anything you may want to give me, but please do not feel like you have to. The main way I would appreciate your support is through your prayers.
Thank you for all your generous giving and support, I plan to write to you again once I have returned from the trip to update you all on how the journey went. Thank you in advance for your prayers and support, I appreciate it a lot.
