The wonderful Pince Family needs some help!
A few months back, Jake went into urgent care and was told he probably had pneumonia. Multiple medications, doctor/urgent care/emergency room visits later - along with non-stop high fevers - he ended up at Children's hospital in Minneapolis. What they initially thought was a fungal infection turned critical when an MRI confirmed lymph node necrosis, lesions on his brain and swelling in the spinal cord. Emergency surgery was performed to get a tissue sample of the infection and remove some bones to relieve the pressure in his spinal cord and, thank God, it was successful. Jake now has a long road to recovery, and we're still not exactly sure what is causing his infection, but the lab is getting closer to an answer and, hopefully, we can start treating it properly in the next few days.
We're not sure how long Jake will be in the hospital, but he is comforted by everyone's prayers and kind words. It's been incredibly hard navigating through all this and the emotional rollercoaster has been exhausting. Still, we remain grateful that God has blessed us with a strong support system...and that Jake has not lost his sense of humor through it all. Even through the worst pain, Jake has made many nurses and doctors chuckle with his wise-guy remarks.
** Update 11/16. The Pince family is overwhelmed at the generosity and compassion of those who have donated. Thank you so much for your continued support through these difficult times.
God bless all of you!
