Jacob is going to the speed-cubing world championships
Donation protected
Jacob learned to solve a Rubik's cube in November 2023 and took part in his first speed-cubing competition at Barton Peveril College in Eastleigh in February 2024. Fast-forward a year and a half and he has qualified for the speed-cubing World Championships 2025 being held in Seattle, Washington (it's a nine-hour flight from London!). Thankfully we have accommodation all arranged, but flights and other costs come to £2500. Please help us out so Jacob can be the youngest UK speed-cuber at this year's World Championships (he turned 9 in April). We're planning other fundraising events and even a press release to the Daily Echo in Southampton. Jake's really good at solving these 'twisty puzzles' – he's fast enough to take part in 7 of the 17 events being staged at the competition. He studies, practises, memorises and even invents his own algorithms to shave tenths of seconds off his personal best times. It's a baffling skillset that looks to most of us like magic, so while the spirit moves him and he's getting a kick out of riding his vertical learning curve, let's get behind him and support his efforts to see how good he can actually be!
