Jacob's Story

Jacob was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy before he was one. By the time he was 12 , he needed to be in a manual wheel chair. His siblings and cousins were the muscles needed to go wherever their adventures took them. He was 13 the day he got his first electric wheelchair, the first real day of independence. Not much has kept him from hunting or fishing, but as he gets older some of the places have become difficult to get to with his electric wheelchair and the medical equipment he needs. He has dreamt of having a Trackchair and the things that he could do with that chair with his siblings and cousins. For Jacob, a Trackchair would be a dream come true not only for him, but his family!

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, sometimes shortened to DMD or just Duchenne, is a rare genetic disease. Duchenne causes the muscles in the body to become weak and damaged over time. The genetic change that causes Duchenne happens before birth.
