Hi, my name is Jacob Douglas. I have been selected to participate with SAWUSA (STUDENTAthleteWorld USA) as an ambassador for the USA on a 10-day international basketball tour next summer to Italy, Germany and Klagenfurt, Austria (the official site of the 2023 United World Games). At The United World Games, I will compete alongside thousands of other youth athletes from 40 nations that share a passion for their selected sport as I do for basketball.

I have been selected as a STUDENT-athlete ambassador for the USA based on my athletic ability, academics, leadership ability, and character. The tour includes the international sports competition and opportunities for leadership development and personal growth through international travel.

As a current 10th-grade student and varsity basketball player at Sumner High School (Riverview, FL) and travel ball player with The Skills Center of Tampa, Florida, for eight years consecutively; I have been afforded many opportunities to travel and compete at a high level both locally and nationally. The opportunity to represent the USA in this world tour will expose me to compete at the international level, provide opportunities to build international relationships with peers of similar interests and experience cultures beyond what I have experienced here in the states. This tour is essential because I have a passion for basketball and people. I believe that although separated by geographical boundaries or language, I share common interests and pursuits with other youth worldwide and will be able to connect through the art of basketball, other sports, education and culture.

Donations toward my GoFundMe fundraiser will help secure and cover travel costs for me and my family, including general travel/transportation expenses, lodging, educational excursions and meals.
